Context Specific Intent

As a Federation we considered what our children might need to learn due to the context in which they are growing up and learning in.  These aspects are:

  1. Rural: Due to their environment children need to know the difference between rural and urban areas area.
  2. Health: As West Lindsey has high rates of obesity children need to be taught how to be healthy now and in the future.
  3. Aspiration: We want children to have high aspirations for themselves, for now and for the future.
  4. Tolerance: Given the lack of diversity in West Lindsey and the high levels of anti-social behaviour in some parts of our catchment area we aim to develop children’s understanding of tolerance.
  5. Diversity: As our communities are predominantly white British our children need to understand how Britain is a multi-cultural society and how this benefits and enriches society.

British Values

The British Values as defined by the Department for Education are:

  • Respect for democracy and support or participation in the democratic process
  • Respect for the basis on which the law is made and applies in England
  • Support for equality of opportunity for all
  • Support and respect for the liberties of all within the law
  • Respect for and tolerance of different faiths and religious and other beliefs

These British values are threaded through our new curriculum. Whenever what is being taught can be linked to one of the values above it is as seen in the Mid Term plans.

School Values

Each of our schools has a set of key values that are important to them.  Read about those values and what they look like in real life by following the links below.
